Close call for Chilton

Tom Chilton came close to damaging both his Ford Focus and team transporter in a high-speed stunt that almost – but not quite – went wrong in front of thousands of onlookers.

Chilton was demonstrating his Focus ST race car’s braking power at a motoring enthusiasts' event.

But as he braked hard from considerable speed his wheels locked and for an agonising split second looked to be heading straight for the Team Aon transporter parked at the end of the run.

Instead, he came to a halt just a couple of feet from the vehicle, much to the obvious anguish of team principal Mike Earle in a clip on online video website YouTube.
