Here is a finished file for the pacetrucks that has 5 skins included. Extract to each series folder you like to change: pacetrucks.zip

Is there anyway to make it work with just one of the colours of truck? I tried taking out pacecar1.mip-pacecar4.mip and just leaving in pacecar5.mip (the orange one) but it won't work, keeps trying to map the ingame pace car onto the truck shape pacecar. They all work if they are ALL left in, just won't work if I only leave in the one I want :?

make an folder where u have copied the one u like five times and rename it so the renamed matches the now existing 5 diffrent ones....

so he should always load the "same" file ;)

Why would you want that :P

You need to copy the pace truck mip you want to use, copy it 4 times and name them pacecar.mip, pacecar2.mip up to pacecar5.mip.

Great minds think alike MZ, the same idea came to me earlier, dunno why it didn't occur to me last night . Will try it as soon as I get a chance.

Simple reason, the other colours just don't stand out - black, dark green, dark blue. Not the easiest to spot quickly. The old V8T pace cars used to be orange, whatever happened to them.

You can probably tell I've finally got round to trying the various suggested add-ons and tweaks . Skies, smoke, new gauges inside and out, pacetrucks, fog (can't really tell any difference with this one).
Only ones I didn't like are the reflections. The first one suggested in this thread was awful, made the car almost completely white, the second just looked like slightly duller versions of the original reflections.

Next on the list is Superspeedway.nets major update :D.

I noticed some had problems with the latest reflections I posted here and that it’s just too bright. Well now I update them and these are ingame pictures of how my game looks like:

Here are the files for windows and overall reflections on the cars:

new_reflections_v2.zip

As you know installation is simple just put them in your \NASCAR Racing 2003 Season\series\cup folder and copy the files to the other mods if you so like as well. You will get the same GFX if you put them in the "cts" respectably "gns" folder!

But what you also need to do to get optimal performance and same kind of look, is that you need to get this following zipfile containing two more files; "s_environ.mip" and "c_environ.mip", and copy these two files to every single one of the tracks (folders) inside the Nascar Racing 2003 Season installation.

Get these here:

environment.zip

Thanks for putting in the effort but those reflections just won't work for me, gives a white haze over the entire car. Was searching the superspeedway.net forums and noticed a couple of others with the same issue but no cure it seems :(

That's very strange, I mean the game can't make up its own graphics but it has procedures how to open files and such. I also had the bright relfection problem but I just changed files and that was it.

I'll post a screenshot to show you what I mean when I get a chance.

Casp:

I installed the new reflections and environment files - really like the way it looks but have seen the grandstands flickering to black in the rearview mirror occasionally? Any idea what might be causing it?

Thanks

Dave

Sorry but I have no idea about that one, try ask on Superspeedway.net forum

Does this flickering occur ahead of you when driving too? Sounds like something with the environment update, systems sometimes respond different to updates.

No, I've just seen it in the mirror. I'm working on a new installation so have yet to do the graphics tweaks to the .ini file. Hopefully that will straighten it away....

Some stuff I been working on, made new reflections to CUP (GNS) and CTS today and also track reflections. Been updating this interior which turned out pretty sweet. I'm done and thinking of doing a super update for everyone to download, keeping it somewhat limited to this forum.

HEya, Cool thread Casper.

I got my game looking good now.

2 questions.

Firstly, How do you get such a good detailed crowd? Mine just look like some1s just got 20 differnt colour cans of paint and thrown over a stadium, yet yours looks like actuall people, the way they stand up.

Secondly, I cant find anywhere to get the track updates ( you know the updates on the original tracks ) does anyone know where I can download a copy?

Thanks v much.
Ben.

The spectator graphics is track specific and there's just the custom/updated tracks which has it. You can't add it to the original tracks without getting a mismatch when joining a server. Can't find a mirror or link for the 300+ MB mega update on the SSW homepage either, maybe it pops up some time.
