Can anyone help?

This new pc of mine has loads of different video ports on the back. My usual monitor has a standard old school plug which is on the gfx card, with a hdmi socket and another fancier dvi socket alongside. But its quite tight to get a hdmi cable into that socket and keep the monitor attached also.

But on the motherboard, a bit further up, is another hdmi socket, aswell as another dvi and afore mentioned standard old school plug.

Now, i want to plug my tv into the computer to watch video/nascar etc. It works fine (apart from being slightly larger than the screen so i cant see the title bar or taskbar) in the hdmi plug on the gfx card but when i plug it into the motherboards hdmi socket nothing happens.

Do i have to make it work somewhere within windows with a setting or something, or is it bost?

Il put up a picture if this makes no/little sense!

Right, a picture, which undoubtedly makes more sense;

Currently the HDMI cable goes in the port in the red circle, with the monitor plugged in alongside (blue circle). Pink and Green circles are other monitor port and hdmi port.

I want to use pink circle hdmi port and blue monitor port. Can i do this....?

hmmm I'm no expert Steve but I'd say the card will override all inputs and outs over the Mboard, otherwise there would be conflicts?

You could be into bios changes :D

what Yosh said, you'd have to make the video output default as onboard and disable the PCIe in the bios to do what you want, not worth it, onboard gfx will be crap by comparison to the PCIe card you got in there.

I see. I was kinda under the impression that id be able to get a duplicate screen up or something.

Next problem then, the hdmi cable is plugged into a 27 inch hd tv but when i put windows onto that the screen is an inch in each direction larger than the tv, so icant see the taskbar etc. Is there a simple way to shrink it down?

There should be a setting in the vcard software menu for scale to full size of screen.
