The new 2010 COT by riouxmods does look sweet, Ive been running a few laps to check out the lushness :D

There is a hit on the fps which could cause some people problems if your system is not the best.

Ive been running with a 43 man field at full video card settings and N2003 options at full also, and im getting between 25 and 35 fps which is fine,
I unticked One box in the options to help (see below) otherwise I was down at 11 - 13 fps which is almost impossible to drive as we know, maybe this is specific only to my vid card or it may help others also.

Nice screens and tip

Me too have had some FPS issues with this mod, especially when you're at the back of a 43 car field. Although I have a very good graphics card (Nvidia 8800 GTX with 700+ MB of RAM), but I think the primary resource needed by NR2003 is your CPU, which is a core2duo E8600, so that might be the bottleneck somehow.

I too play with all options full, but now I have been playing without shadows from other cars for a while anyway.

Another great tip I may give you to improve FPS, is to reduce the cars drawn ahead from 42 to less (like 30 or so). This proves to be the biggest FPS gain on my system, although it isn't very nice and realistic not to see all cars ahead of you, especially when you are pacing at the back, you see the pace car far away and then a big gap and then a bunch of cars.

I plan to upgrade my system somewhere next year (new mobo, CPU, GPU) but in the mean time this might be the compromise I have to make. Although online we will never be with 43 cars I think, so I can crank it back up when we're online

also reduce the number of sounds played down to 8-10 will give you some FPS.

What fps were you getting on Lowes Yosh with the 3D crowd? I was down to 30 ish, with the updated SSnet mod I was getting around 35-40 and the old SSnet 30.

Yeah Ian at Lowes i was down to about 25fps with the 3d crowd, which is fine considering the 1920 res, and the vid card being a couple of years old now, a x3870.
On that updated Lowes track in particular its hard to believe the game is 7 years old! Kudos to all the Moders out there 8) it looks fantastic.

I'm running an E2180, 3GB and an 8600GTS, can anyone suggest some slightly better settings I could use cos I'm sure it could be a little prettier (I'm pretty clueless on these things! ).

With these settings I was over 40fps at the back of 43 car grid at Lowes All Star. Of course the fps soon went over 100 when I fell back from the pack ;)

Thx :)

40fps is plenty Steve :D

To get the maximum from the ingame graphic settings i usually just pause the game while on the track, luckily the fps is still being monitored so you can nip in and out of the the Options and start ticking unticking boxes..
most of them can be added without any major hit in fps, But as shown on your Options screengrab its usually The shadow/light settings seem to be the memory hogger but maybe not all of them need to be left off, or use the Graphics Tweaker to optimize your machine for the game. http://www.repeatoffenderracing.com/mod ... etit&lid=9 you'll probablly have that app already though.

Using the ss.net cot mod it was always the "solar effects" setting that seemed to kill my fps but its fine now. :)

I never have it set to draw more than about 5 cars in my mirror, since

A) How you would actually see more than that is beyond me

B) I never seem to have that many cars behind me anyway.

I'll try the new mod with max settings and report back what fps rate it gets (unless it melts down), since I turned a lot of the fluff off during my gfx card issues.

reflections was the biggest resource hog, I think we've just about hit the limit of the game and DX7, it doesn't really seem to matter what I turn on/off I'm arund 35fps average round Lowes Allstar, some others are more, it's the crowd that kills the fps there.

As said, you may have the best GFX card in the world, and still hit "only" 25-30 fps .... NR2003 is much more CPU dependable than GPU dependable.

The GPU cranks up the eye-candy texturewise, but the CPU has to do all the processing of cars and shadows and everything else you tick in the options tab there imo

Running at full whack, seeing 42 cars ahead into Lowes tri oval, I was rocking 9 fps.

Houston, we have a problem.

People with slow systems need to test this mod before we make a decision on running it.

what do you get in comparison to the old (or new) SS.net mod?

Also what happens if you turn down the trackside objects to Medium, that gives you the old Grandstands and should give you some idea whether the low fps is due to the new mod or the updated track graphics.

ss.net - 17fps
scs2010 - 11fps
Original cup - 22fps

These were the low water marks for me, following 42 cars at the start.

With 25 opponents ahead
Scs2010 - 17fps
Ssnet - 26fps
Original cup - 28fps
