Oh my science, the roval race. Looks like everyone's climbming on NASCAR's and SMI's giggle sticks, because there was some stupid wreck 50 yards from the line on the final lap.

The damn race had 8 cautions. Of course there will be some oh so beloved side by side staged pseudo racing.

It's was a typical staged chaos bull race.

And so many are losing their minds because of a three way tie for the final play off spot.
The points were reset 3 race ago, so what is the big deal.

All this focus on the damn play offs is so irrelevant anyway. Like any of those eliminated had even the slightest chance to compete for the title

The track is overhyped, it's basically a smaller daytona road course with one more chicane. And Daytona road is a not really a great track either.
I'm sure our race will be fun and the track is probably a fun drive, but it is really nothing out of the ordinary.
With all the money and effort spent on this track, you'd think SMI could spare some of that and finally rebuild Bristol to former greatness, but noooooooooooooo.
I guess staged drama does not need a good track anyway.

But hey, Jeff Earnhardt running a pink #96 car was kinda funny.
I just thought, "Hey, that's Theile!" :lmao:

Must admit I laughed at that too.

Like you it seems the world has gone roval bonkers when, in all honesty, I'd fallen asleep long before "RICKY" crashed and bought out that yellow and it was the Mrs who woke me up to watch the finish, until then it was just like any regular boring old race, but kudos to Charlotte for trying something different, I wouldn't mind one of two of these a year.

I've taken some artistic license with our track, lots more runoff on the infield for a start.

They should replace some of those cookie cutter tracks with short tracks and roadies, always more entertaining! Maybe add in LRP, Road America and Mid-Ohio to the calendar at the least...

Can only see how it pans out. I'll be watching regardless. I've lost patience with F1 so NASCAR has most of my attention alongside MOTD and Speedway GP. FIM Longtrack upload their races so might catch onto that too! And Indycar too

Personally I'd have liked to have seen a "duct" race without a restrictor plate first, to see how it compared to a "Duct+RP" before they went down this route, but hey ho, I guess this is their last hell mary before bringing in a figure of eight.

Well, what a surprise. Yet another bs race that has the most deserving car and driver shuffled out of the win in one of NASCAR's infamous drama orchestrating late race restart binges giving the win to some pseudo talent, the 6th or 7th next Jeff Gordon (I've lost count by now) who couldn't even dominate in the Nationwide series.
Have not watched the race yet, but that sure is what the results sheet tells me.
There have to be some disgruntled employees in NASCAR, why does none of them ever bring a pumpgun to work?

Scheduled green flag time was at 14:16 ET/local.

So Johnny Jimson and Knad Chaus are splitting up now.
Well, bad move in my opinion, but I think ever since they put in the spacer, JJ was just not the same.
The more these cup cars drive like xfinity cars, the more of his edge disappeared, the less competetive he got. JJ is this not to be considered the most adaptive driver.
The ability to adapt sure is underappreciated in NASCAR anyway. I mean, just consider the shit NASCAR has thrown at these drivers over the years, and look who remained the most competetive.
Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards seem to be the most adaptive drivers ever in NASCAR. Throw Kaeskopflauski in there as well.

Just check Jimmie Johnsons Busch Series stats for reference.
https://www.racing-reference.info/driver/Jimmie_Johnson

Pathetic, right? Heck, I'd do better than that.

And Kyle Busch? I bet you could lock a bunch of rabid monkeys with him in the car, he'd still wrestle the thing to the front, on just about every type of track.

JJs 2016 title also really shows how the chase format favored him. He won the title with an average finish of 14th.
There is no way you would ever have won a Winston Cup title with an average this bad. Harvick had 9.9 or so that year.
The arbitrary nature of the chase and play off format really is it's worst aspect.
NASCAR has not taken itself serious in more than a decade now. You can basically toss the record books into the trashcan and start over.
That's what happens in a world full of yes-men. They go along and go along until all is in ruins.

You best add some context, Chad is moving to the #24 next year, and iirc his contract runs to the end of 2021 (same for Jimmy in the 48).

Anything to screw a Busch brother out of a win, right NASCAR?
Not that I have prob with AA wining, but Busch was right.

I wonder if Dale Jr and Steve Letarte are still friends now that Letarte has to spend the races on a pitbox down on pitroad. :lmao:

Broadcast Director:"Steve, we're putting you down on the pitbox, it's just too crowded in the booth."
Letarte:"But I was there first, man."
Broadcast Director:"Yea, but you're a crew chief, these two are drivers."
Dale, Jr. :"Sorry, dude."
Letarte:"Alright, I'll go to the pits, but you can't just sit there. You gotta say something, man."
Dale, Jr. :"Oh, I'll squeal nonstop."

Same thing happened on FOX by the way when Gordon came in and they kicked out LarryMac.

P.S.: Bad news bye the way. I asked Martinsville not to paint the curbs pink again this year bcause it makes the track look ultrafaggy, but they won't listen, said they do it as kind of a fund raiser event or something every year, that they were disappointed about my hateful comments.
They seem unaware of the irony that their breast cancer awareness actions may lead to eye cancer for some of their spectators and TV audiences.

Tell ya the safer barriers on the straightaways as Martinsville are so idiotic.
How are you even gonna make significant impact in these sections of the wall?
Also, Martinsville, more wall decals and billboards please!
God this track is such an eyesore these days, you notice that especially when working on a winston cup version and frequently browsing old footage.
So turn the maingranstand into one giant billboard

They also should give Mville a date in summer. If only to not make us suffer from the pink curbs.
I mean, come the mothereff on. I just cannot get over it.

Didn't see it either on the race file I watched, but it was definitely clear and maybe mid 70's with some wind blowing across the track.

Maybe NASCAR ups the race onto their officiall channel on youtube and can be checked for weather. It usually has a geo restriction though.

That was some race at Phoenix once again, I guess.
Quite the amound of collapsed cages lol

Kenseth 7th. Really hope he races some more in the future.

Ford 400 is gonna be a mess, should it come to late race restart binges again.

OK let's go 75F Clear then, the track is strangely hard enough as it is, even though the only change is the s/f line position.

I was going to suggest we make it 71F 10mph SW, based on averages from a weather station during the green flag hour. ^^

For future reference:

https://www.timeanddate.com/scripts/go.php?type=historic - weather history (mostly airports)
