Another year, another season, another thread. Will it be NASCAR's final season ever? Will Jimmie Johnson fall short of his 8th championship title?
Who will win the Indianapolis 500 mile race? Will Jeff Gordon finally retire? I guess we will find out as the weeks pass us by.

Already a historic year for me. I won my first ever Indycar Racing II full distance race.
500 Miles at Michigan against 100 % opponents.
Only 15 of the 26 cars made it to the checkered, lots of mechanicals in this one.

I think I never was strong enough to throw away the original game DISKS and they are still lurking somewhere in a box.... lol

indy 2 , man i love that one to.

I was on roades more. but in Vancouver or some other street races i had problem whit rear end. to much heat and to much spins .
most laps on portland and no problems.

It's really quite fun, I was amazed myself. Really the best example that graphics are not always the most important thing. I got the CART racing version from the sierra editor's choice box. It works on XP with no probs. The 1995 one I have doesn't I think, at least I couldn't get it to work.
The availabe mod files and tracks really upgrade the game to the max potential.

dox box or dfend runs these games. i have wwf arcade , pinbal ilusion , slam tilt, etc

i download full game adn star it whit -h parameter to run hires. 800x640 i think.
well was fun to try a lap on a few tracks..
Yes there is some mods to download but i dont know where.

but original game have so great tracks , incredible. golden age of racing for me.

I gotta use the windows version, I don't get enough good eprformacne with dosbox.

The main resource hub for the game is ICR2.net. A lot of stuff is hosted on the forums, so you need an account to download much of the stuff on there. You can use mine, if you creating one doesn't work.

To save you some time, here's my current tracks folder.

(32 tracks is the maximum amount of tracks or the game won't start)

You're gonna love the Portland update, but Mid Ohio, Surfers and Laguna 88-95 are also quite nice.
Miami 95 is Bicentennial Park scratch built I think. A new scratch built, accurate Cleveland is in there too.
Tons of others as well. The only tracks in there, which are default ingame are Long Beach, Nazareth, Loudon and Toronto.
All others are newer, overhauled, imported or scratch built versions.

Here's the 1996 carset I use on the Reynard mod that some guy built, really nice.

100% ai and qut after 2 spins from pole.
yesterday Michigan destroyd me.

YE LEGENDARY WIN AT PORTLAND by alex .
and laps are 1.01 in race anq qual is under 1min.
but i made a spin and guy is 4 sec only behind and pass me. i catc him bu made another spin passing him and lost 2nd place.
other driver was -20 sec , strange. only top 2 driver was fast.

Mid Ohio is gret place to. tracks are awsom.

There are rumors that NASCAR will announce the introduction of heat races or something or that sort?
Not sure if there is room for more nails on NASCAR's coffin, but this should take care of it

someone posted a fake schedule a week or so ago which mentioned a 48 race schedule with double points at some of the more prestigious races and 2 x 50% races at other tracks. I think NASCAR have since said this is not true. However I do believe Monster want changes

Even if they run 10 lap sprints at Dega/Tona every Sunday it still wouldn't sort NASCAR's core problem.

Ruben and I decided a while ago to wait and see what NASCAR announced for this year as there were some pretty crazy rumours floating around about them before we made any decisions about our racing this year, once all the facts are known we'll open up discussions, personally I don't mind running double headers but I think awarding bonus points based on positions at certain lap counts is a bit nutty for us to do, but it'll be up to everybody how we proceed.

If the proposed changes are true and they do award bonus points at certain parts of the race, will that really encourage the drivers to race? After all points dont seem to matter in terms of getting into the chase, winning is what gets you in there.

So unless they get rid of the chase (PLEASE!), gaining a few extra bonus points wont really matter in the grand scheme of things. Unless the driver with the most points after all the segments is the race winner, now that would just be stupid.
