Yeah man, it's incredible how out of touch especially he is and how little he understand about the NASCAR racing and what fans and drivers want. Not that this is news to us.
He really is the true pinnacle of douchedom.

He is the same as Bernie though, nobody of any significance will stand up and say no, because everybody in the Cup garage is raking in so much money because of his deals, there's no way they will risk upsetting the apple cart, he basically said all the time the TV companies are paying bucket loads of money, he doesn't care about spectators, and believing that building bigger grandstands will bring people back, shows how deluded he is.

I dunno, maybe JR can confirm, but I think NASCAR got some huge tax subsidy or rebate to build those grandstands with, so it's probably not costing them any hard money directly.

Talking of NASCAR, I wonder what their beef is with the #43 team? they seen to go way above and beyond the call of duty to try and get that race restarted, even when it was obvious the weather was in for the long haul, they seriously didn't want to declare the #43 the winner until mother nature intervened

Mother nature changed the script lol.

Not sure if this RTA will have a positive effect. It could have.
I think the barrier to entry is to high, mainly through costs of course.
I don't know, but if they can put some pressure on NASCAR to reverse some bogus changes or discard habits like throwing debris 24/7, I guess that would be a gain.

NASCAR is dead already, I have only watched like 150 laps of cup racing in the last 6 weeks or so.
It's only those diecast collecting, every new t-shirt buying, I'd take a bullet for my favorite driver type of fans than keep NASCAR alive, and female fans, who have no clue of anything anyway.

OH OH!!!!

What did I just read about Tony Stewart running over another driver at a Sprint Car race?

Supposedly Kevin Ward jr, but I can't find any footage on youtube.

Somebody must have filmed this. Wonder what gonna come out of this as I'm gonna go to bed now.

Let's just hope that other guy is alright

I think nothing criminal will happen, the guy is wearing black fire overalls and helmet, and he jumps out his car and runs down a poorly lit live track at TS, by the time TS see's him and reacts, it's way too late.

On the flip side, Tony was driving too fast (compared to everybody else) under caution, he's likely got a spotter, who should have told him the other guy was on track and pissed, so doesn't have much of an excuse for not slowing down.

There are two problems here, Tony needs to face some sanctions, but not for doing anything deliberate, they should also stick someone else in the car today, both of these should be done for the good of the sport more than anything else, as race fans we know the score, but there are one hell of a lot of people out there that will only see "race car driver kills another with his car" and will never see past that bare fact, then next time they get in a road rage incident on the highway, will simply do the same and say "well they never did anything to that guy for doing the same thing".

If anything comes from this, hopefully it will be an end to this stupid man vs machine you see mostly just in America week in week out, it's not and never will be a fair fight and this shows what happens when you loose that game of dare.

There is no valid reason why Tony Stewart should be driving in that race today at Watkins Glen. NONE! He should not drive simply as a show of respect to Mr. Ward and his family. If he drives today, he will be skewered in the media and deservedly so.

Now with regard to the incident itself and what led up to it, the video is inconclusive as to what "really" happened. The angle is not very good at determining the truth. However, there were plenty of poor decisions made on all parties involved. I can think of numerous different scenarios of what could have "really" happened. That being said, it is no secret that Tony has had trouble managing his anger in the past and I guarantee you that that will be bought up in the discussion.

I will close my comments with this.... I have been a Tony Stewart fan and still am, but if he drives at WG today, I will lose a lot of respect for the man.
