Racing some serious stocks huh? Any cage crunching footage you are keeping from us?

Nice drivin, certainly looks like a lot of fun.

Not in a rookie test, they won't let him near another car if he did.

These are 5/8th scale cars correct? Like the Legends/Rebels?

2/3 if I recall correctly, same sort of concept though :) I'll save the cage crunching for next year. Need more practice aiming for the stationary #39

From what I can see in the videos, the way you explored the grip looked methodical, nice. :)
Got a bit loose once and from then on kept it just below the limit and constant at that.
Later, you moved on to trade the late apex for more trailbraking.

Sooo... I made my car and oval debut this weekend in the MASCAR Midlands 400 in Birmingham! All went relatively smoothly, other than me forgetting my race ticket for the first heat and shouting at everyone to run back to my car to get it from my helmet bag :lmao: oh and stalling multiple times. Nonetheless, the hire car ran pretty good. Didn't have any spins or crashes. An old V8 face, Ali Topley won the two heat races and finished the final in 2nd, while finished 8th, 7th and 6th. The tyres were absolutely shot, so think I did alright considering. Was an incredible experience despite which was made better with the presence of Alex, Chris, Adrian and a few other close friends! I think I've currently got the best finish in the hire car, so here's to hoping I get the prize of a free meeting next year! Four more races to go!

Onboards for your viewing enjoyment :)

Wicked, are you doing any races down south, or are they all at Birmingham?

Ipswich is as far away as I'm going this year, got one there and three more in Brum! Chris should be coming to Ipswich :)

So I had my second meeting yesterday, it went much better than the last! I started the day getting stuck in with the prep (well setting tyre pressures anyway). Turns out I was about 8psi too high last time, which explained why it was such snow plough to drive! Safe to say it completely transformed the car. Set out race at the back as I've still got one more meeting to complete until I have a 3 race average to set my grid place, but I moved forward and kept up much easily with the pack. I even kept the #17 busy with a good battle with a cheeky outside overtake in the final! Next meeting in 3 weeks at the Foxhall Stadium! Enjoy the onboards :)

Great stuff! Was great to be there for Dom's oval racing debut. I tried to provide a few tips where I could having been there and done it myself. :lmao:

He drove 3 solid races, no cage crunching! No #53selfspin. Heck, he didn't even cause a yellow :lmao:

Got a chance to catch up for a bit with Ali Topley before the meeting started as well. (Not sure if any of you remember him, he used to race V8 between 2004-2007)

Even better results from what I heard last weekend, creeping to the front. Love the onboards!

I will indeed be at Ipswich for the next meeting in August, can't wait

Good effort. Makes me wonder what I could do in those things, or if Theile would do as well as he does here.
I'd probably crunch half the field on the initial :lmao:

We drove across the country on Saturday to race at Foxhall Stadium, a 382 meter long short oval just outside Ipswich. It was my first meeting outside of Birmingham, and I was brought the #88 hire car to race. Two new things in one, was definitely going to make things interesting! A very fun track to race but a very tricky one to master. My pace was nowhere as good as it was at my home track, but I had a good battle with the other hire car! Here's how the final went:

Already seen it. :) They really need to pour some oil over the track because it obviously is still too grippy.
Interesting wheel-sawing during the first laps.

Looked like you had fun in the final anyway. A few brown trouser moments

Ipswich definitely a whole different kettle of fish compared to Birmingham, as you said, the laps seem so much longer around there, then you have the dust from the Speedway track to contend with! (and people say it's just another oval :lmao: ).

There is a nice grippy line in the wet around there I found once in the middle lane.

Just need more laps on it mate, shame you didn't get practice.

Track was very slick, the dust from the speedway track was causing havoc. Didn't help that people kept putting oil down too. Still didn't rotate quite enough through the corners :(

I had my fourth meeting of the year last night and my first experience of being grided up in the right place and a wet track... What could possibly go wrong? Well not much for the most part, first two heats went well, I got my first podium (3rd) and a 5th place in tricky conditions. Then finals came aaaaand... well I crunched (well nearly ripped off) a bumper  Was pretty much a passenger, the car in front just snapped round in front of me and I didn't have time to react. With my karting mindset, I thought the car would just bounce back into place. It did but took a big chunk out of the bumper  In future, I will try to slow up more! I did manage 5th in the end after the #1 car got DQ'd for tech infringement! Enjoy the onboards :) Heat 1 and 2 are quite entertaining to watch, only the first lap is worth watching of the final IMO
