What are the best fonts and the best methods of doing numbers? In other words, is it good to have them all one colour, should they have a border, should they have some kind of painted pattern on them, or what?

There is no single answer, both yes & no to all. It all depends on the car, look and what your aiming for.

As for fonts, some people have a font they like for a personal number, used on all rides. Some people match the number font to the logo/sponsor. Some use a real number of their favourite driver, but change the colours or matching numbers with a theme. Colours can match the scheme or stand out.

Border sometimes, if the colour of the scheme blends too much with the number outline, then a small border can break it up.

You can have a pattern on them if you choose, not a common thing in Nascar. Normally solid colours and no chrome allowed for TV/Viewing/Spotter purposes.

Positioning of them, upright, italic, skewed front or back etc

Best method is to put text/font on a layer over your scheme. Then you can move, colour, resize to your needs.

I hope that is some help, if not... just say.

If you need help with any painting needs, post some previews here and there are many great painters to assist you. ;)

Maybe...

I have a basic design which looks great without numbers on it, but I don't know if I need to add sponsors, or other decals, or what.

Just experimenting with my first paint job (for this game anyhow, funny I've done a few real cars and found it easier!)
I found these, the site has lots more stuff also like logs etc.

MasGrafx number sets are a good way to go aswell. ;)

Myself and afew SRD members use the set '017' based on TBR numbers.

take the tape off the hoodpins, move the number forward and either slim up the contingencies or use Nascar Cup ones imho.

Looks great, better than I had imagined :D

Contingencies are the money reward/award programs associated with a series. They are the logos/decals in front of & behind the front wheels.

A run down of the 2008 Contingencies used in Nascar: http://www.nascar.com/news/features/spe ... index.html

Makes the changes Ian suggested and that’s one hell of a ride! ;) 8)

I'm going to have www.the-fastlane.co.uk on the rear of the car, do you think I need to have any more writing on it anywhere?
