Hi, as you probably guessed im a bit new to this and have just finished painting this car.

The question i would like to ask is how do you 'take pictures' of cars you have designed.(eg. The ones of the Team Ecosse Lites Cars)

Any help would be welcome.

..by the way how do you think it looks? Any comments or ideas?

Andy

These are called 'renders'. You'll need a program called 3DStudioMax, which tbh costs a bomb, but most people either download it using the likes of Bittorrent or use the 30-day trial version.

There are various "render scenes" floating around on the net, in which you can import the carfile onto a set 3D model, et voila, a nice lil render. I'm sure other, more experienced painters than I, can point you in the direction of 3DSMax links and/or NR2003 render scenes.

Btw, car looks swish, especially for your first go! :)

There are free alternatives though.

One is called GIMP, though i havnt the faintest idea how to use it!

Otehrs though are z modeler and Carviewer, all of which can be downloaded free of charge by typing it into google.

Carviewer is the best thing to use when painting a car to make sure everything lines up. You can, if you like, take a print screen of that if you like to show to others. z modeler has actual render scenes, much like 3dmax, and the scenes at www.masgrafx.com have tutorials in on how to use them!

i use carview when actually painting the car as its easy to update the image. it comes with all 4 car models, the pit wagon and driver as standard, but you can also download other files for different car types such as trucks

You can also use the in game viewer, where you choose your car. You just click on "PLAYER INFO".

I'm pretty certain you can't do renders with GIMP, though it is great for painting with once you get the hang of it. I got hold of a copy of Photoshop recently and still always use GIMP.

ZModeller does pretty good renders for a freebie, theres a good, simple tutorial floating round the net to show you how to get good renders using it. If I can find the link I'll post it, or if anyone wants it PM me and I'll send it to you :)

Some of the ones on display in here are real pieces of art.

I've never used 3ds max but maybe have a look at this:
