Yeehaw, Matt Kenseth returns. And sooner than expected.
Prepare to see that #6 car back in Vicotry Lane.

Dam I looked the other day and it was there but now it's gone, oh well I guess we'll run this race at 70F if nobody objects.

You seriously have people suggesting now that NASCAR should make this all star package the package for all 1.5 milers.
Oh my the amount of big ones that would produce. :lmao:

We are now at a point where the odds of ever seeing a race that goes green from start to finish again are basically zero. Just think about that. Twighlight zone!
Whatever, I think I'm losing interest.

I've only seen people suggesting the package never be used again, but then I only visit dedicated motorsport sites, not fanboy sites where NASCAR can do no wrong.

Did anybody catch the weather? I fell asleep before the proper race, I did record it but I'm not sure I can force myself to watch it...

Daytona, 7.7. 18h (forecast)

If the race started in time (didn´t check that, there were thunderstorms comin in), weather should have been somethin´ close to: 82°F, SO 6mph and clear if the thunderstorm stayed away or cloudy if not.

Not for the bodyshops lol
I watched tapedelayed on Tuesday. Too bad neither Kyle Busch or Harvick won this thing.
Anyone else of the opinion that the amount of wrecking in these plate races has gotten ridiculous over the years?
There so much of it now that none of the race are actually memorable anymore.
It's become a perpetual blur of cage crunching carnage.

Come the hell on NASCAR, just give us one race at Daydega or Tallatona without plates!
That would boost ratings, I tell ye!

Given the way these guys are driving, a race without plates would be a disaster and there is nothing to indicate it would split up the pack racing, this is solely due to the aero package on the cars, not the engine and yes, the wrecks have increased as a result because the cars are so unstable in the pack (plus people forget how to drive sensibly).

Wrecky Stenhouse lol.

Oh yeah, dirt racing is so cool, dirt racing is so awesome. The cup series just has to run at Eldora, because the fans love it so so much.

Heck, that truck finish alone. Restart with 2 to go and they finish side by side and it was so close, and oh so historical.
I mean two laps, and still side by side, that is so special and so rare. What a unicorn of a finish.
Why don't the just weld them all together.

They should divvy up up the dirt event into 150 stages.
Half a lap racing, half a lap caution, half a lap racing, half a lap caution, half a lap racing, half a lap caution.
In principle no different than what they do now.

Too bad they took a a date from NHMS. Quite a nice race.
They ought to at least make it a fivehundred miler now that they only go there once.

just caught up with Daytona 8) (and skipping posts past Jul 12 :D ).
Well, drama drama - and lot's of it.

anyway, when it comes to watching NASCAR, I prefer FOX Sports over NBC Sports - admittedly really only because of 'nutty' "Dee-Deeddelly-Doo-DoubleUuuu" (D.W.) :D
but now Dale Jr. really adding value to NBCS:

So to sum up: Chase Elliott runs over his tire changer plus equipment and both clearly leave the pit box and does not get penalized?
I guess we know who NASCAR's new darling is now.
Such an obvious penalty, it's unbelievable.

NBC's broadcast director needs his ass kicked. They place the worst cast of race annoucners in history around the track and assign them sections which they talk while leader runs through those. You could not make the coverage more annoying, if that was your actual goal.
The stage racing really ruins watkins glen probably more than any other race.
Do they deliberately pick race announcers with super annoying voices?
Kyle Busch should have won this race. No fuel goes in, can you believe this?
How can this happen with a system that has not changed in years?
This race was so bad, it almost gave me a headache.

Bagley was the best commentator (because he is radio based so has to actually describe what he is seeing to the listener instead of shouting "look at that"), Burton gives me a headache so at least I could mute it this week whenever his whippersnapper shouty voice came on, he reminds me of Chris Evans (BBC Presenter, not Capt America), he seems to think shouting conveys something, nope, it's just annoying.

The other guy that used to do the trucks seems to only have two or three "catchphrases" and doesn't seem to take note of how many times he's used them, so every restart is getting as bad as every start on Fox with the same screaming of "Green flag in the air", he should copyright it lol.

What I often do is sync up the tv pictures with MRN and listen to that, it is often a far better experience.

Oh and btw Brain France has taken a "leave of absence" after being busted for DUI mixed with Oxycodone (my wife had some of them the other week, very effective) for a second time, his cousin is going to take over, personally I'd have thought Mike Helton would have been a better choice, but hey ho.
